Smoke and Mirrors
Embracing the camp of the Halloween season through a contemporary pop lens, queer dance-pop duo Homofonik release “Smoke and Mirrors,” the title track from their upcoming dark and autumnal EP. Propelled by driving basslines, unearthly synths, and chilling music-box ear candy, “Smoke and Mirrors” is a haunting track that explores a relationship pushed to the brink of destruction. Supported by social media advertising, and an active and engaged presence across major platforms.
About Homofonik
Following the release of their debut single “Taste” which exceeded 4000 streams in the first three weeks following its release, Homofonik is ready to demonstrate their affinity for the dramatic, and deliver pop music that is guaranteed to kick any party into high gear. With music rooted in big, infectious pop choruses and a flair for theatrics, Homofonik turns heartbreak into bops, and joy into catchy, euphoric bubblegum pop. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, the duo is a collaboration between two long-time friends - vocalist Josh Travnik, and keyboardist Daniel Belland. Homofonik pulls from their combined training in musical theatre, contemporary and classical music, and they aim to make pop music that is deliberately full of the explicitly queer representation that they never saw growing up. Believing that there is universal relatability in sharing specifically personal experiences, Homofonik shows that it is important to carve space in the pop industry for out-and-proud queer voices.
